2008 LPS Magazine “Who Will Be Woman?” Feature Writer’s Contest
Deadline: November 21, 2008 PRIZE: $250
Contest Topic:
Who will be woman?
Whether it is Sarah Palin accepting the Republican VP Nomination only four months after birthing her son Trig or Michelle Obama putting her successful career on hold to care for her kids while her husband’s presidential campaign kicks into gear, what it means to be woman is being questioned again as it is every few years.
As women enter and continue to contend in realms that men have long held a monopoly on, what does it mean for the sacred role of womanhood? What areas of womanhood are non negotiable? If everyone were more interested in playing stereotypical male roles, who will be woman? Can society do without the essence of womanhood? What IS the essence of womanhood? Explore this topic creatively — there is a lot of room for thought leadership.
Capturing our Essence
